About Me
Welcome to my site.
My name is Thomas, but I go for Maelstron most of the time online. This site is to show some of my work and present myself to the world.
First off, I'm a game programmer aspiring to be a game designer. I have a long background playing games, from pc games, to video games to RPG.
I've been tinkering with RPG systems ever since I was little, and as a master I've often been incumbent with creating characters, levels and worlds where the story could unfold.
This has become second nature to me, often idly imagining new situations and machanics that I could one day use.
I dicided that I had to put my creativity to some use outside of work, and began writting a book.
I've been publishing it only, and despite the occasional mishap with my english, I think the story is going great so far.
The story is a tale of fantasy set in an alternative contemporary world, where magic and other sorts of arts existe hidden from regular people.
As the story begins, you learn the world is in danger, and requests help from another world which sends five heroes to try and save the unknown world.
You can see for yourself by clicking the link on the side, the one named Mission Earth.
At work I've created many games for the Brazilian console Zeebo, some titles as the Zeebo Extreme series, or the Zeebo Sports series and the Foot Camp game.
I've learned a lot there, as my first experience in the game market. And recently we had the chance to develop something of our authoring during one week.
So I came up with the concept of a game where the player had to travel the level collecting something and changing elements to be able to pass certain obstacles and reach special areas.
I got the help of two friends to create this game. Marcelo Marcati and Wilson Akamine joined me as artists.
I got the suggestion of instead of collecting something, to roll through the stage destroying random buildings lying around. So the original concept changed a bit.
We used Unity3D as our game development tool. I've scripted in C# and they modeled everything in Maya and 3ds Max.
You can check the product of one week's work in the link named MarbleShift. I hope you enjoy our unfinished work.
